News Release - October 29, 2019
"Life on the Edge", November 1, 2019 to May 15, 2020
The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) has partnered with the Comox Valley Arts Council to exhibit the talent and vision of local artists with creations based on the theme "Life on the Edge", works related to living on Northern Vancouver Island."As a gateway to the community the Comox Valley Airport provides an opportunity to showcase the beauty of the region to locals and visitors alike. It is hoped the new exhibit will enhance our guest's experience, while providing accessible exposure to the considerable passenger traffic for the artists, a true win/win situation." says Fred Bigelow, CEO at YQQ.
Comox Valley Arts Board Director Sharon LaLonde helped adjudicate the show, and states, "We are very excited about the quality of the art in the 2019, Comox Valley Airport Show. 80 extraordinary pieces of work were submitted by artist in the Valley, from which 24 pieces were chosen. The Comox Valley Airport Commission are committed to showcasing the artists of Vancouver Island and, for this, we are very grateful."
The public is welcome to attend the exhibit launch this Friday, November 1st from 3pm to 5pm in the Airport's Arrivals lounge. Many of the artists will be in attendance, Luke Blu Guthrie will perform and On the Fly Café has invited some local suppliers, including Gladstone Brewing and Blue Moon Farm (Raven's Moon) to be on hand to sample some Island Good products.
The "Life on the Edge" collection of works will be on display until May, 2020 at the Airport, or view it online at: www.comoxairport.com/yqq-art-collection .
