Comox Valley Airport Reports Another Record Year
The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is pleased to announce another record year for passenger growth. Passenger numbers rose to an all time high, culminating in 419,765 passengers in 2018, a 14% increase."Increased seat capacity along with some very competitive pricing from the airlines is making travel through YQQ attractive." states Fred Bigelow, CEO of YQQ. "In particular, we're seeing a huge increase in the number of area residents starting their journeys to the United States from YQQ. Strategically, we have the nation's two largest airlines providing service to three major Canadian hubs," continues Bigelow. "The options are endless with this ability to tap into their comprehensive global networks."
YQQ Air Service and Destinations:
- Air Canada daily service to Vancouver and seasonal service to Calgary
- WestJet daily service to Calgary and Edmonton and Vancouver; along with weekly service to Puerto Vallarta throughout the winter.
- Pacific Coastal Airlines - daily non-stop service to Vancouver
About the Comox Valley Airport
The Comox Valley Airport Authority CVAC, is a federally incorporated, non-profit entity that has managed the safe and secure operation of the Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) on behalf of the surrounding communities since 1996. The airfield and its associated systems, including air traffic control are operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force at 19 Wing Comox on a continuous 24-hour basis. A leading economic driver for the region, YQQ supports an estimated 588 direct and indirect full-time jobs, supplying over $39 million dollars in wages, contributing over $144 million in Economic Output for the region. Every dollar earned by the Comox Valley Airport Authority is reinvested into the operation and growth of the airport to improve facilities, enhance services, reduce costs and support community initiatives
