Custodial/Operations Staff Lead Hand
The Comox Valley Airport Commission (CVAC) is seeking a dedicated and motivated Custodial/Operations Staff Lead Hand to join our team. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Lead Hand plays a key role in coordinating the daily activities of our Custodial/Operations Staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant airport operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the activities of Custodial/Operations Staff on a daily basis.
- Assign and monitor ramp duties.
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and training to Custodial/Operations Staff.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for Custodial/Operations Staff
- Maintain oversight of terminal custodial needs and related task lists.
- Ensure shift schedules are maintained, including coordinating holiday requests, replacement staff, and sick day coverage.
- Support the recruitment and selection of new Custodial/Operations Staff, including reviewing applications, participating in interviews and facilitating orientation and training.
- Ensure adherence to safety and security procedures.
- Assist with emergency response protocols.
- Perform the full range of duties of a Custodial/Operations Staff member as required.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to airport patrons and tenants.
- Participate as a member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of WHMIS and biohazard procedures.
- Support CVAC workplace culture by delegating responsibilities for staff events (e.g., golf tournaments, potluck lunches).
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Experience in airport operations or a related operational environment preferred.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience coordinating staff and schedules
- Ability to mentor, train, and evaluate staff performance.
- Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, WHMIS, and health & safety requirements is an asset.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to perform a variety of operational and custodial duties as required.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when needed.

Compensation: $26-$33 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
